If you’ve noticed, I’ve got a new commenting tool onboard and what’s so great about it is that it is connected to Facebook!
I’ve had a REALLY hard time trying to code this manually. I felt like I was grasping on straws – especially with Thesis Theme (Coz Thesis doesn’t allow you to meddle with the php core codes – which I needed to do).
I really wanted this commenting system here on my blog in order to make the best out of my on-site social optimization. The great thing about Facebook comments for WordPress is that it allows your commenters to automatically share your stuff by allowing them to post it on their Facebook profile. Share the love on Facebook!
Right when I almost gave up hope, a new friend of mine, Ana Hoffman of Traffic Generation Cafe helped me out by pointing me to a page wherein I could freely download a packaged WordPress plugin designed exactly for this purpose. Thanks Ana!
And who am I to keep such a great tool to myself? So to make it much easier for you guys to implement this on your own blog, here are the download links and the installation instruction links for this WordPress plugin.

Create Facebook App (This is needed before you install Facebook Connect)
Yes, lots of stuff to mingle with huh? But in the end, I think it is well worth it :) Facebook comments allows you to become more social with your comments, more public, more open and more personal.
Tips for Keeps: Install it NOW. Get ahead of the social game while it’s still fresh.
I'm not that techie but I'll give it a try on my blog. I'll let you know if I'm successful. Thanks!
Try it out! And I’m sure you can handle it – especially with the no-brainer guide :)
Hello Sean, really nice hack to be implemented.
But keeping both Facebook comments and WP’s default comment box doesn’t seem a good idea. Can we integrate both into one? (Avoiding 2 boxes for comments, and retaining all comments with you even tho’ they are shown in fb as well…)
Yep it’s really nice :)
Unfortunately we can’t. I would advise for you to use Facebook as a stand-alone commenting system and do away with the normal WP commenting system but other people just love the backlink they get from the generic wordpress commenting system so…. Up to you :)
I wish I could get more comments on my own blog to get discussions going. I notice just a couple of comments get others going, but getting the first comment or two is difficult.
Yes it is. Hard to get a comment these days if you’re not investing in relationships with other people.
Hi Sean,
Thanks in advance for your help Sean!
I have installed everything correctly ( as far as I know) and
double checked the instructions you gave above but can’t
get any sign of comments on my blog posts?
A little more info about Bad Neighborz self hosted blog is that
I have imported our Posterous blog into WordPress. I always post
once from Posterous and I have it set to “Auto-Post” to over 30 social web platforms with one of them being our website. Will this affect the ability to
effectively use this plug-in?
If not then any ideas?
Thanks Again,
Regards,
caleb
Hey Caleb,
I haven’t implemented this plugin in my site for a while now. Not really sure if there are any updates fixing this. Last time I checked, I had difficulty making it work on my site. Perhaps they changed some things or were unable to update the plugin together with FB API updates. Perhaps you can check their site out if there are any update releases regarding this plugin?
Also, I don’t think that your posterous autopost will affect the website.
Thanks Caleb!
Thanks Sean! I appreciate your response and help and I look forward to
following your blog*

Caleb
My pleasure Caleb :)
I wish I could get more comments on my own blog to get discussions going.
Thanks Sean! I appreciate your response and help and I look forward to
following your blog*
Does this still work?
The image above is broken so I can’t see what it should look like, but I’m getting a few weird errors :\
Hi Adam,
I think this plugin is now out of date. But I’ve seen blogs still use this. Perhaps there’s another plugin for this. Facebook keeps on updating its API.
Since the admin of this web site is working, no doubt very soon it will be renowned,
due to its quality contents.
Facebook comments are like traffic magnet. because, when someone leave a comment it goes to their Facebook profile and all the friends can see it.
First time reading about facebook comments. I haven’t really paid attention to it in the past. but today i google for information and google directed me to a facebook comment. This tell us that google is indexing facebook comments and using this to rank websites also. This is great news
