How Writing About Tool Alternatives Helped Drive More Traffic

Writing content about SEO and digital marketing can really take you to so many places across the internet, and really makes you stretch your imagination of what you can or can’t do. With the abundance of tools, strategies, and tips going around, there is no one definitive way of doing SEO.

This is even more evident when it comes to the tools we use. There are so many tools that perform similar functions, each having a certain quality that makes them stand out from the rest of the bunch. This also means that for every tool, there would always be alternatives lying around. Here at SEO Hacker, we use a wide variety of SEO tools, that perform a diverse array of functions that make our job more efficient and effective.

Our diverse SEO toolbox also allows us to look for alternatives that we can use and share to people. When it comes to creating content about these alternatives, it not only helps our team know more about them but also make sure that more people find out about them through our articles. Here’s how one of these articles helped us drive more traffic and tap into a new keyword.

Addressing a need

One of our main objectives when it comes to creating content for SEO Hacker is making sure that it addresses a certain need that SEO enthusiasts and digital marketing professionals are looking for. For the article in question, I came up with it after seeing news about goo.gl being shut down by Google, which meant that one of the most popular URL shortening tools can no longer be used. This meant that there is a need that needs to be addressed, which had me looking around for alternatives that work just as effectively, or even better than the tool that is being shut down.

Gathering sources

Upon searching for URL shorteners on Google, I saw that it is one of the more searchable topics around, with users across the internet regularly looking for these tools when it comes to creating save-spacing links for a variety of posts.

URL Shortening Tool

I also took a look at various URL shortening tools that would be a part of my list. This helped me see the numerous alternatives that people have been using. I saw a number of quality tools that can be used for my article which have received good feedback. With all of the tools ready, it’s time to create my article.

Writing content

Writing the article is actually the more relaxing part of the process, as I only need to write about my experiences with these tools. The best part is looking through the different details and functions of these tools and seeing what makes them different from each other. This includes things like custom URLs, having a personal account, and even premium features. I made sure that users would be able to make their decision on which of these alternatives would fit their needs as well, making helping make the article more effective.

Promoting and sharing

After finishing things up, the next step is publishing and promoting the article. The process I used here is the same one that I’ve used for my previous articles, which means making full use of our email subscription tool, and sharing the article through LinkedIn, Facebook, and Twitter. These channels ensure that my article would be found by users that need these tools the most. The keywords I used for the article are searchable as well, with “Best URL Shortener” and “URL Shortening Tools” allowing my article to be found by the most amount of people.

Blog Traffic

It took a few weeks for the article to gain traffic, but when it did, it constantly got bigger each passing month, becoming one the most successful articles of the year. The content may not be complex or lengthy, but it helped address a need that many people search for, allowing it to become an effective article that receives constant traffic. This also helped us gain new readers and people wanting to connect with us through guest posting.

Key Takeaway

Addressing a need drives traffic into any good article and makes your website a place that is worth visiting, accomplishing one of the most important objectives for your website. Content marketing is still an important element in a good SEO strategy, and these kinds of articles are evidence that having the right combination is a sure-fire way to gain traffic in the best way possible.
